Scout Adventurous Journey (Bundeena to Helensburgh)

This Scout Adventurous Journey is being organised by Martin at 1st North Rocks.

Meeting location: Cronulla train station

Route:

• Day 1: 6.6km Bundeena Wharf via Jibbon Head to Bonnie Vale campground
• Day 2: 16.1km Bonnie Vale to Uloola Falls Campground
• Day 3: 13.3km Uloola Falls Campground to Helensburgh Station

Equipment inspection:

Mandatory pack checks will be conducted:

•  ​17 September at 6:30pm at the 1st North Rocks Scout Hall
• (date/time TBC) at 3rd/4th Kensington Scout Hall

Requirements:

Scouts recommended to have achieved OAS Camping stage 4, however, can discuss their experience with Jumbuck if not yet completed stage 4.

Cost:

Estimated shared cost is $80, inclusive of camping fees and shared catering covering:

• Day 1: afternoon tea, and (hot) dinner
• Day 2: breakfast, morning tea, (cold) lunch, afternoon tea, and (hot) dinner
• Day 3: breakfast, morning tea, and afternoon tea

Not included in estimated shared costs (recommend to bring $30):

• Day 1: Ferry (Opal $4.70), and lunch (purchase at Bundeena)
• Day 3: lunch (purchase at Waterfall)

Bring:

Hiking pack containing:

• hiking tent (can be shared between 2-3 Scouts)
• sleeping bag
• sleeping mat
• spare clothing (incl. warm clothing)
• torch/headlamp
• stove and fuel (can be shared by a number of Scouts)
• personal toiletries (toothbrush, toothpaste, soap, sunscreen, insect repellent)
• water bottle (minimum 2L)
• rain coat
• small personal First Aid kit
• money to buy snacks (optional)

The 1st North Rocks Scout Unit has hiking packs and 3-person hiking tents that are available to hire - please discuss with Jumbuck (first come, first served).
